How The West Was Won

Nice. VERY nice. Next up: Indy… lets go BOLTS!

Right after the game, TK (Victory, Segue, Wildboyz) said wassup via iChat using his wireless card from the parking lot of Qualcomm. Thanks for making me feel like I was there, hahaha.

First things First!

So I was telling my sister about Slumdog… I haven’t had the chance to go see it yet but I told her about the premise and how she should go see it and how all my friends say its so good, etc… its all about looking out… hey, thats what brothers do.

Anyways, Millionaire happened to be on TV and we were watching it for a bit then my sister told me about the YouTube videos of contestants who didn’t even get pass the first question haha. The look on their faces = priceless.

But you don’t have to take MY word for it…

Chase Sampson (look at his jaw drop! LOL)

Paul Weir Galm (listen to his story… then it ends so fast LOL… time to look for a job, Paul)

It’s the Cheese

I kind of have a secret obsession with home goods/housewares/interior design. Friends call me weird but I think it has to do with an appreciation for design beyond the graphic/digital variety. This is Top Design territory.

Its the little things you find around the house that are overlooked… but without them makes the house incomplete. The fake empty decor boxes near the fireplace, the fancy wood carved statue sitting in the corner, the soft frilly throw over the sofa, the tall glass bottles filled with peppers and oil, the copper rustic looking pots and pans hanging over the kitchen island… mix these with painted accent walls, moldings, nice heavy rugs… I can go on and on.

I’m a fool for these things! You can already predict whats going to happen once I get my own place… goodbye IKEA, upgrade me.

With that said…

1. Phase Design Cheese Board – $180

I’ve been eating more cheese and crackers thanks to the “we all old now so lets drink wine” events I’ve been frequenting lately. I want to know my cheeses!

2. Armadillo Bread Box – $90 (Source: Gizmodo)

I still want a bread box. What bread doesn’t want a home??? Everything else already lives in the fridge. This is Kanye status right here. I also want to try some new types of bread… sliced butter-top ain’t doing it for me anymore.

3. Tree Stools – $NA

A little outdoors indoors… without the splinters up your ass. Check out the zippered bark coat… genius!

4. Mahoo Light – $NA

No more candles… just add water. I say unlimited brownie points if these were at a “candle lit dinner”… no contest!

5. Cane Tables – $NA

Diggin the pattern on these tables… powder-coated steel. Glass piece can be added on top for more usability.

6. Cube 6 Hideaway Stools – $NA

Paint these guys black. Musical chairs TOGO… nice.

808s and Expiration Dates

Kevin Pereira from G4 and Attack of The Show has made a parody of Kanye West’s use of pitch auto-correction. He did it on GarageBand.

(Source: NOTCOT)

Execution was pretty good… I think it should have been a little longer (and without the reference to his mother’s death). Man, I wanna get back into editing.

New Life

I threw in my towel at 4-8. It was just too frustrating to watch… I stopped following games. I thought our season was over. Three weeks and three straight wins later… out of nowhere (to me at least)… all the pieces fell into place and we’re on the brink of another AFC West title. WTF.

Sunday night vs the Denver Donkeys… already expecting the largest crowd.

Weeks Worth

Happy Holidays, everyone!

The past weeks have been so busy just going through the daily operations… sometimes I won’t even know what day of the week it is. But one thing is for sure: I’m behind on this blog… almost two weeks! Such a blog scrooge, I know.

Lets pick up where we last left off…

Two Fridays ago (12/12)

Tish and I hit up the new Veggie Grill at the Spectrum. About a year ago I had my first VG experience and it was not a good one… got the Philly Cheesesteak (one of my favorite things to eat) hoping they’d really surprise me with their alternative meat substitute. I was so wrong. So at this new location I was glad to see they had removed that item off the menu. We both got the Santa Fe Crispy Chicken sandwich. You will be amazed. A bit pricey but its one of those things you have to try.

Sweet potato fries are BOMB.

Two Saturdays ago (12/13)

Tish and I saw Stevie Wonder at Nokia. Although I don’t follow Stevie Wonder, I do appreciate his music and greatness… there were some moments during the concert when I was like… “whaaat? HE sings this?” or “wait… I thought it was wild, wild, west!” or “this isn’t the Men In Black song!?”… lol. SCHOOLED by the man himself. Thanks, Tish!

We got in an hour early because Tish thought the concert started at 7… so we had to kill some time. All that rushing for NOTHING!

The difference with this time killer is DRINKABILITY.

The lady opted for wine. Classy winehead.

So many people

Two Sundays Ago (12/14)

NOOE Crew reunion on Melrose. We released our winter selections and had a really good day. Saw Zachary Quinto (Sylar/Heroes, Spock/Star Trek) doing some shopping at the Trading Post. I wasn’t quick enough with my Blackberry… but I think Louis got some nice paparazzi style ones.

Cold morning Starbucks run

This AA popped out of nowhere… very sleek front

You NOOE!

Anika always hooks it up

Cool band down the way

Eames style

Heading back to HQ

Decided to grab dinner at the new ESPN Zone next to Nokia and catch the Laker’s game. I was just there the night before for Stevie Wonder… mild deja vu. ESPN was packed and the wait was long but well worth it. It was cool being right next door from the game.

Arcade/Bar upstairs… kinda wack. Maybe we just weren’t feeling it because we were so HUNGRY.

Every booth had its own private TV and you can change the channels too.

Last Monday (12/15)

Nothing happened. Lazy Monday.

Last Tuesday (12/16)

ADT came through to install several motion sensors, invisible lasers, retractable floor with shark pool and introduced us to Hawk, our new resident 24/7 around the clock sniper.

Piece of mind.

College buddy Lawrence Kao (Kaba Modern, ABDC Season 1) stopped by to get some shots done.

We have awesome craft services… no effort.

Last Wednesday (12/17)

Shitty weather to drive in… but I LOVE IT. After complaining the whole summer about the heat, I am glad winter is finally showing face… plus rain = *head nod* NIIICE.

Chillin

Lawrence (Kaba Modern, ABDC Season 1) came by to pick up some pictures and we all decided to get breakfast next door from El Taco Loco.

They make a good breakfast burrito

Tigran (Tikko Studios) rolled up in his Smartcar… its actually his grandparents. Very hip… both the car and his grandparents.

Micro machine.

Louis and I went for a little test drive…

Later that night we got bored… so…

It was fun and games for a bit but then things got serious for Tikko’s first intern interview.

Last Thursday (12/18)

$5 Footlongs

From our leasing office… our first Christmas card

Seeeee’s

Business as usual.

Last Friday (12/19)

So I’ve been hearing about these George’s breakfast burritos for a while now but I’ve never got around to trying them so on this particular morning Louis and I decided to see what all the OMG was about.

Commonwealth x Euclid

George’s is a nice little establishment and from the looks of it probably has a lot of history. They were super busy with everyone trying to get their breakfast fix. A lot of people were ordering breakfast burritos so any lingering doubts about it were smashed… if anything, hearing breakfast burritos being ordered again and again only built up the hype.

Hypebeast

Louis throwing in the flag…

Verdict: Delicious… potatoes, egg, cheese, crispy bits of bacon and ranch sauce for dipping. I’m more of a ham guy when it comes to breakfast burritos though (El Taco Loco next door still gets some love). I’m sure George’s can do a ham substitute… definitely next time. Oh and I only ate half as well. $4 bucks… not bad at all.

We ran a couple of errands that day… so many things to do, so little time.

I hate traffic with a passion…

… and I blame this

Cordless phones???

Connected with Tish later on that day and joined Annie and Owen for dinner at the Spectrum.

Red Robin Sauteed ‘Shroom all the way… (A1 Peppercorn close second, Whisky River third)

Blllurrr

Exercised some willpower. Cheaper on Amazon… always.

Last Saturday (12/20)

Annual Gift Exchange at 672

Thanks, Tuan (Mana Potions)… LOL.

Louis wanted this for his facebook profile pic… here you go, Lou.

Standing ready for destruction

Preparation before battle

All-time favorite

Nice job on creating the gift exchange drinking game, Quyen. Haha!

Pearl necklaces and Houdinis… wow.

Quyen, H-LOCK, Louis

Tuan was literally off the walls… damn Mana Potions taking effect.

Hom minus cookie

J-mo is done.

SOOOMebody’s sleeping in my beddd…

Last Sunday (12/21)

Louis’ sister, Lindsey, came by to help us with some interior makeovers… thanks, Lindsey! Afterwards, Raul, our friendly electrician showed up to continue work on our setup. Things are looking… bright.

Khai and Jo who were handling NOOE on Melrose and told us that JESSICA ALBA showed up… crazy. I’m sad we missed it. Celebrity sightings every week!

Later that night, Louis, Tish and I grabbed dinner at Kim Loan Restaurant (Tish’s favorite since she was a little Tish).

Camera came out too late…

Monday (12/22)

I used to pay this much for a HALF tank.

I love Costco!!!

Tuesday (12/23)

Didn’t do much Tuesday. Had a meeting with Tikko to discuss major projects moving forward. Kevin (Tikko Marketing) was also there with his brand new D90 (you bitch!). Raul came by again to continue electric work. Things are looking… brighter.

A few teasers… (before I wrap this MASSIVE post up)

Merry Christmas!

Little Brother

Blackberry Bold’s little brother… the Curve 8900 will hit T-Mobile on February 18th. Better camera, smaller form factor, no 3G. You can say its a cosmetic upgrade… a damn good one! I believe this will be RIM’s #1 selling device in 2009.

Been seeing more and more BB in people’s hands lately…

Travis and Vince from Orisue dropped by last Thursday to get some quick product shots/teasers for their upcoming season. Louis did his magic and now the images can be seen on the Orisue site as well as the newsletter if you’re subscribed.

Rumor Mill

Macworld 2009 is less than a month away and to my surprise its been strangely quiet on the Apple rumor front.

Until today…

iPhone nano?

“iPhone “nano” rumors have persisted for some time with speculation that Apple could introduce a smaller/cheaper version of the iPhone. The site claims the product will be announced at Macworld San Francisco 2009.” (Read more)

A new Mac Mini?

“The author speculates the new Mac mini will adopt many of the recent physical and environmental improvements in physical design as well as include the newly introduced mini Display Port.” (Read more)

(Credit: Mac Rumors)

Personally, I’m rooting for a new Mac Pro (spec wise… maybe design wise too) and new cinema displays (NOT made specifically for MacBooks).

Get those credit cards ready… haha.
