Tire Grease, Tennis, and Tapioca Express
[mood | thirsty]
[music | Britney Spears feat. Pharrell – Boys (Co-Ed Remix)
Can dropped his Accord today over at Cook’s place. The whole installation took about two hours. I came late so there will be no before/after pics, but you can use your imagination. The Accord now sits on Ground Control coil-overs along with Eibach springs. Pretty nice if you ask me. After being questioned on how it feels now that his car is dropped, Can says it makes him want to drive faster! Whoa! Slow down cowboy, we don’t need anymore crazy drivers. Oh yea, Can got some tire grease on his ass and he wants the whole world to know that he eats women’s snack bars. Women’s Individual Nutrition Apple Spice snack bars to be exact! Haha, how embarassing.
Linda Vista Recreation Center was the next stop on our three-part adventure. Tennis? Sure, why not. Early in the game, Can was no match for me because today I was wearing my lucky Planet Hollywood shirt that I got in Paris. Pair that up with my faded Gap shorts and it’s sooo over, no contest man. After 3 rounds, it was 3-0. Could this possibly end up being a total sweep? Suddenly, I started missing my returns, hitting homeruns, and double faulting like crazy. I guess my shirt didn’t want to bring me luck anymore or something because Can came back and now the score was 4-5! “Oh how the tables have turned,” he said and boy was he right. The bad luck continued in the last round and Can won 4-6. Good game. Next time, bring more balls.
Last stop, the brand new Tapioca Express on Convoy. Strategically placed a few feet from The Green Tea House. Nice one. Talk about competition! Anyways, Vu and Liutech joined us to check out SD’s latest tea joint. I ordered the Strawberry Milk Tea and it wasn’t all that. Cha for Tea is better! Crispy Chicken was really good though. It was really spicy too and you know how Thomas likes spicy foods.
Well, I’ll be back tomorrow with a more extensive review of TE if we drop by it after bowling. No guarantees though. Good nite!

It would be nice to relax for the rest of the year but I have a couple of projects I couldn’t wait to start on so I’ll be working straight into 2010. Keep it locked and bookmarked for updates…

From Bud Caddell:
We can’t determine how to make enough money from the things we want to do, and do really well. I’m constantly surprised at what can be monetized. And on the web, there’s a market for almost anything. But this problem requires you to rapidly iterate your positioning and the type of clients you serve. Often, we’ll get transfixed on a single direction early on (because we’re desperate to solidify our business) and we’ll miss our chance to radically experiment with the market.
We’ve found things we want to do, and can be paid for, but we’re not the best game in town. Mediocrity is not a sustainable strategy. Being able to recognize your own weakness is a profound strength, and acting to improve what you do is key to any kind of long term growth and stability. Find the best talent and steal them. Learn how your competitors run their businesses, and copy what works.
We’ve come across things people want us to do, that we do well (or at least better than the competition) that we really don’t want to do. This is perhaps the most fatal trap for any business I’ve worked in. These are the sirens calling you to shipwreck. You’ll hemorrhage your best people, you’ll stop loving what you do, and you’ll lose the passion that built your business in the first place. Start saying ‘No.’

Yard Work
[mood | tired]
[music | John Mayer - No Such Thing]
The weather was really nice this morning so my dad decided to do some yard work. I helped trim bushes and rake some leaves. Nothing too fancy, just busy work. The only complaint I had was when the sun would occasionally beat down on us. Shit was K-R-S Z hot! As promised, here are some pictures taken by my little sister Kathy and kid brother Timothy.

Starting today, I will dig deep into the blog archives of Phantom and surface some posts from way back in the days (LIVEJOURNAL, XANGA, BLOGGER). It will be an ongoing weekly blog feature that I’m calling “FlashBack Fridays” (yes, name inspired by ABC’s FlashForward… you gotta read the post dates in the same tv intro voice too).
UNEDITED. UNCENSORED. BLOGS GONE WILD!
Enjoy.
